Fake virus protection thing installed itself on my laptop and it wont let me uninstall!?

The exact same thing just happened to us. To remove it, open Activity Monitor from Applications/Utilities. Find MacProtector, highlight it, and then click on Quit Process. Then, go find the application in Finder and drag it to the Trash. Then restart your Mac.
