How do you get rid of bunions?

I have one on each of my feet near my pinky toes. It's from wearing dance shoes and they don't even hurt. They look really ugly and my people always ask if I had like a sixth toe and it got cut off or something. It's really mean and they don't get that it makes me self conscious, so I was wondering if there is a way to get rid of them.. Like I am going to the podiatrist in a few weeks but I don't want surgury... Is there an alternative or no?
